Smartphone brands always look forward to the Indian festival season (usually from September to Diwali). That’s when they come out their best numbers on the market. This year is no different. Especially for Realme.
During the Realme Festive Days, the company claims to have sold over 4 million units of its smartphones and AIoT products through its official website realme.com, Flipkart, Amazon and major stores. He also said he has seen an increase in sales of his 5G smartphones, selling over 1 million units of his 5G devices. They captured 45% of Realme’s total sales.
As a next step, Realme aims to launch 100% 5G smartphones in its Number series in 2023 and reach 100 million 5G-enabled users globally by 2024. The brand’s Festive Days sale also saw an uptake of Smart TVs, laptops and tablets, selling more than 230 thousand units for the same.
90% of Realme’s R&D efforts focused on 5G
Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India, Vice President of Realme and President of Realme International Business Group said, “We have strategically launched a number of new products ahead of the Realme Festive Day sales start and we offer deep discounts on all of them. This year, the sale was extra special because of the launch of 5G and for the same reason we saw a lot of users opting for 5G enabled smartphones.”
Speaking of 5G, which was launched in India this month, Realme has 23 5G smartphones under its belt and has introduced 5G into its AIoT portfolio with the realme PAD X. At the Indian Mobile Congress, Realme announced its partnership with telecom companies. Indian companies, including MediaTek, Airtel, Jio, Qualcomm and Vi.
Madhav Sheth said, “As the first brand to launch a 5G-enabled phone, we believe that 5G has the potential to bring the entire ecosystem together, which is why Realme has devoted 90% of its research and development efforts to technologies and 5G devices.”
He added that “85% of our devices already support SA and 100% of our devices will have full SA support by October. We are also releasing OTA updates for our devices to ensure all our users can get the most out of 5G.”
During the start of the holidays, 5G devices took 45% of realme’s overall sales. The brand has sold 1 million 5G units in the last five days. According to the IDC Q2 2022 report, Realme has risen to second place for the second time, with strong annual growth of 24% (the highest among the top five brands) in 2Q22.
