Halo Infinite updates have been arriving quickly since the release of Halo Infinite Season 2, and we’re excited to see what kind of changes 343 will release for its sci-fi shooter.
Infinite Halo Season 1 debuted as a beta on November 15th of last year, and since then we’ve seen Microsoft release the Halo Infinite update after the Halo Infinite update. Although the first season lasted longer than expected, 343 Industries delayed the release date of the second season of Halo Infinite until it fixed bugs in the base game, the second season of the game finally released on May 3rd.
Season 2 of Halo Infinite brought new maps, modes, and tons of new content to the Halo Infinite Battle Pass.
Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone set the standard for battle passes, but 343 stumbled upon the Halo Infinite battle pass in Season 1, asking players to gain a lot of experience to unlock new gear and also flooding the game with limited-time content that required players to invest heavily. time in multiplayer to unlock the skins or lose them forever.
343 listened, however, and made adjustments throughout Halo Infinite Season 1 and now in Halo Infinite Season 2, a lot has been fixed.
So if you’re planning on diving into Halo Infinite season 2, here’s everything we know so far.
Halo Infinite Update: Straight to the Point
- What is it? Halo Infinite multiplayer season 2
- When can I play? Available now
- What can I play on? Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC
Halo Infinite update: release date and platforms
Season 2 of Halo Infinite was released on May 3, 2022 and is available at Xbox one, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
The official name and theme of the season is ‘Lone Wolves’. Season 1 ended on May 2 after a long six-month run, and Season 2 will stay for a similar amount of time. Initially, we thought Season 2 would be shorter, but according to 343 Industries, it will last until November 8, 2022.
Season 1 was 343’s first attempt at launching a live service experience, trying to compete with other mainline FPS games. Unfortunately, it fell short and 343 Industries addressed the shortcomings of Halo Infinite Season 1 in its March update (opens in new tab)where they also reassessed Battle Pass Progression (opens in new tab). Previously, XP was not awarded based on performance in games and challenges were poorly worded, leaving players in the dark about how to actually earn XP.
Halo Infinite update: trailers
The first teaser for the second season of Halo Infinite was released in April. Lasting just 26 seconds, we didn’t get much out of it, although what we saw briefly was illuminating. New maps, new characters and a new armor core were seen here.
A second Halo Infinite Season 2 launch trailer appeared on launch day. Lasting close to two minutes, this gave us a much better look at new maps, modes, limited-time themed events, and a new Battle Pass.
We haven’t received an official Battle Pass trailer for Season 2, but if you want to see more, 343 Industries has you covered. Releasing a community live stream video, which showcased the full Season 2 Battle Pass and Battle Pass Switcher menu. You can watch the video below (skip to 8.10):
You can read about the new Halo Infinite modes in detail in a section below, but if you want to see them in action, here’s the trailer showing Last Spartan Standing, King of the Hill, and Land Grab:
There are two new maps in Halo Infinite Season 2, Catalyst and Breaker, and you can read about them in an upcoming section. However, as a teaser, you should watch the new maps trailer:
We finally have a trailer for the current Fracture event, Entrenched. We’ve got details below on exactly how it works, but for now, whistle your whistle by watching the launch trailer:
Halo Infinite Update: Maps
Catalyst is the new Arena map, which provides a Forerunner facility that is being reclaimed by nature. You have relatively small team bases that 343 keep separate from the center of the map, along with a fairly compact design.
The Halo Infinite update also added Breaker, a new Big Team Battle map. Set around a dismantling facility for banned ships in a sandy location. Unsurprisingly, given the type of map, it’s huge and there’s no end of terrain to climb. Just beware of the giant laser in the central chasm, there’s no way you can survive this thing.
Halo Infinite Update: Modes
Halo Infinite Season 2 also adds a stack of new modes, there are three new additions in total. The first is Last Spartan Standing, a 12-player experience for everyone that features a confined loadout and just five respawns. Once you run out of respawns, you’re out of the game. This is only available in Breaker during the Interference and Alpha Pack events, but in addition, it will have a standalone playlist.
King of the Hill is our second choice, available in Ranked Arena, Quick Play, Bot Bootcamp, a dedicated King of the Hill playlist, and custom games. If you’re playing ranked it will follow a strict sequence to where it appears on each map, but otherwise unranked matches randomize hill locations.
The final new mode after the Halo Infinite update is Land Grab, which ties in with the fracture event from Season 2 of Entrenched. This one sees three neutral zones popping up on a map, and you’ll need to capture as many as possible to score points. If a team takes all three zones, a new set will appear in another location.
In addition, 343 Industries confirmed that there are many other Experimental Halo Infinite modes and rotating playlists (opens in new tab) coming too, including two Slayer variants. The Ninja Slayer offers an infinite ammo Energy Sword and Grappleshot loadout, while the Rocket Repulsors take a similar approach, but with Rocket Launchers and repulsors. Finally, Vampireball is Oddball, but the skull provides a one-hit kill, also giving you a 50% shield boost.
Halo Infinite Update: Event Details
So far, 343 Industries has outlined two Lone Wolves narrative events for Halo Infinite Season 2, and there’s a 10-item Event Pass with new rewards.
Unfortunately, the first event, Interference, is gone, which was available between May 3rd and May 16th. Don’t worry if you missed it, there’s still the Alpha Pack, which runs from July 19th to August 1st. In these events, players can complete Event Challenges, which range from completing matches to performing certain actions.
Both Halo Infinite events use a single map and mode combination, which is Last Spartan Standing on the Big Team Battle map, Breaker. Please be aware that LSS and Breaker are inaccessible in general matchmaking or custom playlists during these events. You also cannot complete challenges in playlists other than events or custom games.
Finally, Halo Infinite Season 2 brings a new Fracture event, Entrenched, but don’t expect any new cinematic storytelling here. Playing in the new Land Grab mode, there are up to 30 free customization items available. Like the others, expect to find Event Challenges, and there’s an ‘EAGLESTRIKE’ armor core available.
Entrenched takes place six times during Season 2, with the first event already taking place between May 24 and May 30. We currently only know three windows of upcoming events, and you don’t have to wait long for the next one. These are:
- June 14, 2022 to June 20, 2022
- July 5, 2022 to July 11, 2022
- August 16, 2022 to August 22, 2022

Halo Infinite Update: Battle Pass
It wouldn’t be a live service game without a new Battle Pass, and that’s exactly what Halo Infinite Season 2 brings.
Introducing a new 100-tier battle pass, there are up to 180 rewards available. This time there’s a Rakshasa Armor Core up for grabs, alongside an armor for the Mark VII Armor Core. You’ll need a premium pass for Halo Infinite Season 2 to get all these rewards, and this also grants you up to 1,000 CR, usable in the item shop or next pass.
Regular Halo Infinite players will find a new set of final rewards, which unlock Visors and Skins by completing all weekly challenges. Additionally, this new Battle Pass features a new cinematic story, which can be viewed by accessing the Season 2 menu.
Unusually, Halo Infinite also has a swappable Battle Pass system. If you haven’t completed the Halo Infinite Season 1 Premium Battle Pass, Heroes of Reach, you can re-equip it – which disables Lone Wolves progression until you switch back – and work on any previously locked tiers during the Season 2 of Halo Infinite. you haven’t purchased Heroes of Reach, which is still available from the shop menu, which means you won’t miss out on any season-exclusive items.
