Halo Infinite’s ongoing sync issues won’t be fixed anytime soon as developer 343 Industries has prioritized other fixes and improvements.
Desync issues have plagued Halo Infinite since launch, leading to enemy players, vehicles, and weapons occasionally crashing on maps and hits sometimes not registering. While not a game-breaker, the network issue is particularly disturbing for multiplayer melee fights.
But it doesn’t look like a desync fix will appear anytime soon. replying to a Reddit post (opens in new tab) that highlighted melee collisions are still unreliable, explained senior sandbox designer Brian Berryhill in One comment (opens in new tab) why players are still finding the glitch.
“The developers who would work on these fixes were allocated to other Infinite work,” Berryhill said. “Their work has had some indirect benefit to our UCN [networking] solution, especially around movers (players, vehicles, etc.) on object devices (lifts, pistons, bridges, etc.), but not around melee shots and “around the wall”. These developers are coming back to Sandbox soon (hopefully).”
While a wholesale desync fix may not be actively in development, Berryhill went on to say that it was “high in our fix priority”.

Waiting around
The desync has been a point of contention among Halo Infinite fans, who have always voiced their frustration with the issue since the game’s release late last year. ONE particularly egregious example (opens in new tab) The bug made waves on the Halo Infinite subreddit several months ago, prompting Berryhill to acknowledge the problem. At that time, they said that Infinite’s networking team was working to resolve the issue in their latest internal builds.
This resolution didn’t appear as quickly as Berryhill or Infinite players would have liked. For a live service title that sells itself as boosting the Halo brand and harking back to the nostalgic days of competitive multiplayer, one consistent bug is enough to sour players’ perceptions of the game.
Like the many answers about reddit (opens in new tab) show, gamers aren’t too pleased that the desync is still hitting about six months after release. The idea that it’s not a bug important enough to deserve the developer’s current attention particularly bothered some fans. At least they can hope that Halo Infinite’s next co-op mode is in the works.
